Sprouted Coconut


This strange looking object is a sprouted coconut. In Kerala we call it "poung". You can cut it like a cake. It is sweet, slightly juicy and has a spongy texture. When coconuts are harvested, they are  piled up in big heaps.

Nature's Bounty - My Drumstick (Moringa) Tree

My drumstick tree is loaded with fruit. The drumsticks are very fleshy and about 2.5 feet long. I am not exaggerating. One is enough for a sambhar. Normally drumsticks are about 1.5 feet long. I have been sharing the bounty with family and friends. Its such an incredible joy to eat produce from your own garden.

Seedless Jamun Fruit

When Rafiq, told me to try this fruit, I was reluctant as I am not too fond of the jamun fruit. Rafiq runs the fruit and vegetable shop, outside MK Ahmed Supermarket in HSR Layout. He coaxed me to try one saying, "They are seedless !!!" I was intrigued. One bite and it was a flavour explosion - it was sweet, juicy and had just a hint of that tongue numbing astringent jamun flavour.
